My mechanic claims that a bad Egr can in fact effect the firing potential of certain cylinders by for instance flooding them with too much exhaust.
Most common cause for a misfire on the 2.5L is oil in the spark plug holes do to leaking valve cover plug tube seals. You would need to replace plugs, wires, and valve cover gaskets in that situation. Most common cause for a misfire on the 2.5L is oil in the spark plug holes do to leaking valve cover plug tube seals. A defective aspirator valve would unlikely cause a misfire monitor failure. It would more likely cause an air system monitor failure
yes. a valve in the open position will prevent compression, thus no combustion.
bad valve stem seals
burnt valve...
Water can get in and cause a misfire.Water can get in and cause a misfire.
if sludge is keeping oil from draining away from valve guide a cylinder can suck in oil and cause plug to misfire
If the valves were adjusted incorrectly, yes it can cause a miss. It can also burn a valve if they are adjusted too tightly.
check for low fuel pressure (its critical) with guage on schraeder valve on fuel pipe on rear of engine in cab drivers side , should be around 55psi
Bad plug? Bad wire? Bad piston or valve (do a compression test)
A misfire is normally caused by bad plugs or plug wires, vacuum leak, burnt valve, blown head gasket, etc. Start by replacing the plugs, and go from there.
Yes, if it leaks oil through and on to the spark plugs, it will foul them and cause a missfire.
