In most ways, yes.
This would encourage many women to become leaders, expanding their world of possibilities; as such it would encourage national growth and a more educated female population.

It would depend very much on the particular female. To elect a woman just because she is a woman does not seem to be a good idea even if it did give a role model to girls. In fact, a poor female president might even do damage to the role of women in future American politics.
