Yes it will... you need to switch the flywheels though to mount it to the automatic transmission...
Though it could be technically possible, it's probably not financially responsible. It would likely cost more than an automatic 1999 Subaru Outback with a rebuilt engine. The main problem would be in changing it from manual to automatic. Or, there are no automatic/manual "engine's", the engine IS separate from the transmission, this is an easy swap provided you have th skills, the wiring harness and ECU will need to be swapped as well.
That would depend on the engine size , automatic or manual transmission , what the differential gearing is , etcetera
Automatic or manual?
Engines with automatic chokes also usually have an automatic throttle which is supposed to run the engine at the best speed. Changing the choke would probably also require coming up with some way to change the throttle.
www.mx6.com sign up there!! It can be done but at an extreme cost first you need the trans next you need an engine that came off a manual you cant use the engine that is on your auto
You can fit a manual transmission into an automatic Ford Mustang as long as you have the same engine but you will have to change a lot of things. Depending on the year, you would have to change things like the computer, wiring , steering column to add the clutch, etc. It would be better to buy one that's a 5 speed already.
The minimum labor be atleast a grand not to mention the cost of the manual transmission if you get the right type because you can't match a manual transmission that went to a carbeurated engine to a fuel injected engine without an adapter plate which would alone cost atleast 500 bucks so no it's not really worth it at all in my opinion.
The short answer is yes. The basic engine is the same and simply involves swapping the flywheel and clutch assemby, or flexplate and torque converter, to the other engine. If your Montero is an automatic, you need to retain the intake manifold. There is a mounting stud to hold the cable from the trans to the carb that is not on the manual transsion intake. If you are going from automatic to manual there is a multitude of parts to make the clutch work and you really need a donor car for that purpose, at least it would make it easier. Trust me on this...it's easier to change the parts before you install the engine.
depends; automatics are convenient and easier to drive but manual transmissions get better fuel mileage than an automatic. It depends on the way a person drives and where they drive. If you drive in backed up traffic a automatic would be better. But if you drive on open country roads with few stop signs a manual would better. If you are skilled driver a manual would be better. But if you are not a skilled driver or a new driver a automatic would better.
Sell your auto and buy a manual car.
No! You can replace it with a manual, but an A/T cannot be converted.
Yes it can be done, but there is really no point as it is a big job and will cost more than its worth. Plus a manual transmission is way better than a automatic. If you would rather have a automatic transmission it would be wise to just sell the vehicle that has the manual and buy a vehicle equipped with an automatic.
