With out seeing the item or better yet inspecting by hands on, the value is based strictly as an item for sell (not on personal or sentiment) . I can however reflect on assumption of one fact stated in the question, the (976) indicates the piece was an issue or rental item and was a means of identification to the owner. This indication alone devalues and deprecates the collectors appeal. If you could email me a very ggod close up of the gun in detail of several angles of specific areas, i will be more able to give a more qulified assesment. (sandlapper101@earthlink.net) Please be sure to state in subject line (Remington Double barrel??) As I and everyones has a spam blocker. E-mail me for the areas of interest.

Remington Model 12 barrels are threaded to the action. Barrels can be replaced with the proper equipment.

in no way are these barrels unchangeable. in fact you soon think of retiring that 742. they are very dangerous to the shooter. rich- certified gunsmith Remington qualified.

From markings and proof marks on the gun barrels and the frame. In some cases you need to remove the barrels, and look on the underside from markings.

As of September 2013 there is not a listed value for a 1918 Remington Armory gun barrel. It is best to seek a value from a gun dealer or appraiser. Values are based on demand and condition of the piece.

Need a detailed description of all markings, type of sights, number of barrels, length of barrels, finish and overall condition plus any accessories, papers, etc..

Your best source on information would be to contact Remington via their web site.

Remington did not make the A5. From 1906 to 1947, Remington produced the Model 11, which was their version of the A5. However, the barrels were not made by FN (Fabrique National, Herstal, Belgium) Please check the markings on your gun and repost your question. If it is a Remington, Remington Customer Service MAY be able to help- but Remington guns are usually dated by a 3 LETTER code on the left side of the barrel- and if that is not the original barrel, all bets are off.

Check the Remington website under customer service for a list of authorized repair facilities.

Yes they are interchangeable but the barrels however are not.

I'd say $150.00 -$225.00, depending on condition, There is one at my local gunshop in about *5% condition for $149.95.. think I'll buy it, they certainly are tac drivers with those long barrels

I just purchased the same gun manufactured in 1971 with the 28" 2 3/4" and 30" 3" barrels in 95% condition for $276.50

User Avatar

Manufactured in 1899. Value depends on condition. Probably has Damascus twist barrels, so wouldn't shoot modern loads. If in good condition, value would probably be $350-$500. Watch www.gunbroker.com for comparable guns and see what they bring.

Remington now imports the Baikal shotguns under their 'Spartan' brand. Barrels for the "Remington" Spartan SPR-453 are the same as your Baikal.

The Express version of the 870 Remington is normally either 12 or 20 gauge. Gauge desigantion is marked on the barrels left, rear end.

Try looking on the underside of the barrels near the breech or on the side of the breech block.
