Would the speed sensor cause the car to die or cut out?
No, but it could effect how the transmission shifts.
Would a bad speed or oxygen sensor or a transmission problem cause a car to jump forward violently and a thump be heard just before 2 RPMs?
Answer same problem I have.I think throtle position sensor and speed sensor can cause thise problem.try first any adjustment on throtle sensor then speed sensor. may be both wear out. A faulty ABS speed sensor can give you those symptoms. Just to eliminate the possibility, remove the ABS fuse and take it for a test drive. If the problem goes away you have found the problem.
the speed sensor is located on the back of the transmission can be accessed from the top of the car lean over the motor and trans from the front of the car and look straight down beside the throttle body and u should see a sensor with a plug attached to it on the transmission that would be your vss(variable speed sensor)
What would cause a 1997 Dodge Intrepid to start one time and not another unless the fuses are switched out?
What are the symptoms of failing throttle position sensor in Mitsubishi Mirage Car will not idle when warm.?
Does the speed sensor have to match the year of the transmission in the car or the year of the car itself?
i got a 1992 accord lx, and i went to a pick a par and look for the same car and year, so what u need to do is simple remove the one for ur car opened( care full cause they got a paste inside the sensor) so what u do is open that one that u get for tha pick a part, and change everything is inside to your speed sensor. sensor is located…
The sensor located closest to the firewall is the vehicle speed sensor, This sensor tells the ECM how fast the car is moving, that information is than relayed to the speedometer in your instrument cluster. The speed sensor on the front of the transmission is a Turbine Speed sensor. The ECM watches the relation of the Turbine speed sensor to the shifting perimeters to make sure the transmission isn't slipping.
