It is best to give him time and space as he obviously is not ready for a relationship if he has some personal issues he needs to resolve. When this occurs there is no set time as to when he will be ready so it is best not to wait as there is no guarantee you would get back together down the road. Don't bother, pester, pressure, be seemingly needy or overbearing as this will only push him away further and possibly bring him to resent you. It would be in your best interest at this time to let him be and move on. If he is ever interested again he will contact you but don't wait around for what might never happen.
