You bought cherry frosting that is pink trying to make a pizza cake now your son just wants cupcakes What boy colors can you make from pink frosting?
You might add cocoa to it to make a rosy brown that would be appropriate for boys.
Adding blue would produce a pastel lavender or purple, that might work with a super-hero theme. I'm guessing that you are using the liquid food colors sold in grocery stores, that make pastel shades. If you can get paste food colors, you could easily turn pink to red or orange, both good for boys, as in sports and superheros.
I actually am using paste colors. I thought of red and orange, but he doesnt really like those colors. Trying to see of some odd color combos without having to buy new frosting! lol
One makes Cheeseburger Cupcakes by decorating regular cupcakes with various colors of frosting so that they look like cheeseburgers. Begin with a yellow cupcake sliced into two halves for the "bun." Add a slice from a chocolate cupcake for the "burger," along with coconut dyed green for "lettuce" and yellow and red frosting for "cheese" and "ketchup." For an extra touch, brush the top "bun" with corn syrup and sprinkle on real sesame seeds.
You could make a basic batch of cupcakes, then decorate them with frosting and embellishments in your daughter's school colors. Also, check craft and party stores for football flags or little foam fingers that would make great cheerleader cupcakes. Customize them with piped icing. You can also create megaphone symbols.
It is always okay to use food coloring in frosting. If you're only using one of the main food coloring colors, you really only need one to three drops to get a beautiful color in white frosting. You can also make your own colors by mixing the different colors together. There are equations for mixing on the back of every food coloring box, or online. Happy Coloring!
