perhaps you connected your spark plug wires incorrectly check your firing order if you crossed a couple of spark wires the engine may still run but very roughly also you may have spark plug wires that are not fully connected to the plug are you reusing the old plug wires may be time for a new set check connectors for corrosion recomend using high quality spark plug wires

iridium plugs are made to last 100,000 miles

I have a friend with 170,000 miles and he still drives it daily, I have another friend replacing his engine at 50,000 miles.

Gear oil should be changed every 4,000 to 5,000 miles. Motor oil should be changed every 3,000 miles to keep the engine running clean.

120000 miles with original iridium plugs.

Yes. And it has a timing belt that needs to be changed about every 90,000 miles or so.

The engine oil should be changed every 3000-5000 miles

You cannot tell by looking at it. For this reason it must be changed at a set time period of miles or years. Without knowing the make, model, engine, & year I cannot tell you when it should be changed. Warning: If the engine is an interference engine and the belt breaks you will have internal engine damage.

No, under normal circumstances the timing chain will last the life of the engine and is replaced when the engine is overhauled.

It has an interference engine. The cam belt must be changed at 90,000 miles. The VTEC engine also has a balance shaft belt that also must be changed. Non-VTEC engine does not have the balance shaft belt.

It should be changed every 60,000 miles. I am not sure if it is an interference engine or not.

When my 2002 SC2 sputters, stalls, "Service Engine" light comes on, I dump a can of injector cleaner in the tank and it runs fine and the light goes out. Can't say for sure that's your problem, but it is a small enough investment to try it out. Good Luck.

Could be in need of a complete tune up. Does the check engine light come on?

No, you are extremely lucky as this is not an interference engine. Belt should be changed every 60,000 miles.

I just spoke with a Parts person at a local Toyota dealer. He told me that the 2004 Toyota Matrix requires Iridium spark plugs, which retails for about $12 at the dealership, and it should not need to be changed until 120,000 miles.

No, but its the best you can get in the market. Faster starts, prevents cold start wear in the winter, better throttle response, and fuel economy. The original equipment spark plugs for the 2000 Toyota echo were indeed iridium, and they do not need to be changed for 100,000+ miles. I definitely recommend using iridium plugs when you must replace the OEM plugs. You should be able to check with the maintenance manual that came with your car for more info. But no cars REQUIRE iridium plugs. In fact, none of the Toyota Echos after 2000 came with those amazing iridium plugs that the 2000 model had from the factory. Also note that you may not even be able to buy those plugs at all anymore, from what I understand they had a special extra wide gap. The replacement plugs may have a smaller gap, and even if iridium, they may not be intended to last for 100,000+ miles. Most Echo owners consider the Denso (Part #SK16R11) or NGK (Part #IFR5T11) Iridium plugs to be the best replacement for this vehicle and they can both last for 100,000+ miles like the original equipment plugs.

The engine oil should be changed about every 3000 miles or every 6 months. Depending on how much you actually drive it or how hard, rather. If you just putt around you can probable go 4000 miles. My 2000 E350 has 385 978miles keep the oil changed

it must be changed every 105,000 miles. Warning: This is an interference engine.

60,000 miles. This is an interference engine. If the belt breaks you will have serious engine damage.

I am not 100% sure but that engine is timed via a chain which never needs to be changed.

The 1998 Dadge Stratus came with 3 different engines. You fail to list which engine you have. The 2.0 L should be changed every 100,000 miles and is an interferance engine. If the belt breaks on this engine, serious engine damage will occur. The 2.4 L should be changed every 105,000 miles. The 2.5 L V6 should be changed every 60,000 miles. On all of these engines the water pump is driven by the cam belt. Replace the water pump at the same time you replace the cam belt unless you have done so within the last 50,000 miles. You have 90,000 since the last service. So if you have a V6 you are long overdue and on the 4 cylinders, change the belt in 10,000 miles.

Must be changed every 60,000 miles. Warning: This is an interference engine. If the belt breaks you will have internal engine damage.

It is an interference engine . The timing belt should be changed at 75,000 miles ( severe duty ) 100.000 miles ( normal duty )
