You think you got pregnant while on your period when should you take a pregnancy test?

There are a lot of pregnancy tests on the market that you can take days before you miss your period. It is best to take the test first thing in the morning when there are higher levels of the hormone HCG which is produced by your body if you are pregnant. If you get a negative result but still think you may be pregnant, wait a few days and take another test in the morning. I recommend either a digital test or the E.P.T brand test. Both have been very reliable in personal experience.

∙ 14y agoIf you had a period, what is making you assume you could be pregnant? Did your period seem 'normal', or was it just a couple of days of light spotting, maybe even a little earlier than your expected period? If it's the latter, it could have been implantation bleeding and you could test now. If you actually had your period there doesn't seem to be a reason to test, although if you just need peace of mind, test today! I'm not one to judge, I'm OCD about peeing on a stick even though I'm on the pill and my periods are extremely regular ;)

∙ 14y agoTest when your next period is due/ late. It is very unlikely you were ovulating and menstruating at the same time, but sperm can live for a week, inside the uterus. If your schedule is irregular or thrown off for some reason, you could have ovulated at anytime in those seven days and conceived.
After conception occurs, the blastocyst still needs to implant into the uterine lining, before your body produces any hCG, this occurs between 8 and 14 days after conception. The level, which does rise rapidly has to be 50 mIU/ml to 100 mIU/ml - before it will trigger a positive home pregnancy test (depending on the brand).
While you can test any time that you want, the earlier you test - the more likely you are to get a false negative due to insufficient hormone levels. Waiting that extra week just saves you the stress of repeatedly testing and coming up negative.
