change out the EGR ran in to the same thing on my 1991 with a 3.1 v6 in it this should take care of the gas smell because I think that it is not burning off all of the gas or it could be a coil dropping out one of the to -
sounds like a motor mount is broken or a transmition mount. have those checked.
have your transmission checked. from experience and from your repairs it might be your tranny. jr
Hello, I have a 1997 Firebird V-6. It is right on top. Just remove the serpentine belt from the alternator, unplug the electrical connection on the back of the alternator, remove the mounting bolts and install the new alternator. I have not replaced one in my bird yet, but I checked the Hanes manual and it is the same. I am not a professional mechanic, but I have replaced a few in my lifetime. Good luck. John
A problem with the fuel system. I'm assuming the fuel pump or carburetor/fuel injectors. I had a 1987 Pontiac Firebird that would sputter for a few seconds when you pressed on the gas pedal. Never got it checked though but I assume that would be the problem.
Have you checked your points and condensor?
I have the exact same problem as u in my 87 firebird i dont know what to do
Turn signals just quit working- have replaced flasher- checked all bulbs and fuses, checked all obvious wires, cleaned grounds, replaced the turn signal switch (that was an adventure). At a loss- any help out there? Hazards work fine- all other lights work fine- turn signals dead
oil pump may need to be replaced or it may not be reading right when you hit the gas it should go slighty over 60 psi my advice get it checked out asap
Have you checked the pump to make sure its not leaking? My brothers had a bad hose and the fluid was spraying out in the trunk and running under the carpet. The top would go down but not up because of the hose that burst open. Hope this helps!
I found the answer on another site, went out and checked our 1999 'bird. you don't have to jack up the car to find it, but will to change it. it is under the car on the drivers side, just about at the end of the door frame. It is about 7" from the outside of the car frame. Feel along and you will find it. It is an inline filter.
Have u checked the undeerside of the reinforcement bar on the front end
I would have the ignition module checked .
