I had the same problem and had the water pump replaced and I still had a 230 temperature. We found that the problem was the radiator was plugged up at the outside bottom with sand and debris. We cleaned that and no more extreme heat. Remember that the analog guage is not all that accurate, always rely on the computer based temperature read out on your electronic cluster..Edward F.
