usually those high pitch squealing sounds are cause by a loose/slipping belt. just check the tension on your belts. the ac compressor and the alternator belt. also the ac compressor belt tensioner tends too rust and also make squealing noise. wd40

There are three steps; first step 70-80' lbs. second step 100-110' lbs. third step 130-140' lbs. This is right out of the shop manual.

I am assuming that this is a European Escortand not an American oneIf the fan is running with a cold engine when this problem occursthe most likely fault is the engine coolant temprature sensorthis sensor sends signals to the ECUif the wrong signal is being sent, the Ecu may think the car ishot when infact it is cold so the engine would be getting a very weakfuel mixture this would also cause the cooling fan to cut in on a cold engineI hope this helps a littlebest wishes

what do you mean by bypass... is your ac squeeling and stuff... just unhook the wire that goes to it, a squeeling ac means the bearings in it have worn out... also what i did to my spirit and caravan was took the pulley and belt off the ac compresser... i believe without that extra thing being there, it would make the vehicle slightly easy on gas because the less the engine needs to pull the more gas milage it can get.

the belt is probably loose or needs to be replaced, the pully need to be checked and tightened etc,

It sounds like you are having rack and pinion problems. I have had two Grand Caravans and had to have them replaced on both. One was still under warranty. They are pretty common to have replaced, but it has to be done a certified technician. Good Luck.

the filter is built into the power steering reservoir . the filter cant be replaced separately . the reservoir itself should be replaced.
