As long as you can PROVE you're Brittish-yes. I think your dad;s passport should do fine, bring along a copy of your birth cert and you're ok. As long as one of your parents are Brittish and you live in Britain, your grand. Just, you have to have PERFECT English with a PERFECT accent. Lavender Brown isn't foreign and Tom Riddle is definatly English.

Is english the same as British?

No. England is part of the union of the British Isles. The Union between Scotland, England and Wales forms Britain. Therefore if you are from any of the home nations you are British. There is no real nationality as English, Welsh etc as they are not soveriegn nations and they have no individual passport. When Britain includes Northern Ireland we become the United Kingdom (of great britain and northern ireland) Ergo the Northern Irish are not British but part of the UK. (incidentally, there is no british passport, only a UK passport)

Do you need a passport from the south of Ireland to Scotland?

Scottish people are also British and hold a British passport. Those flying from elsewhere in Britain shouldn't require a passport, but they will probably need some form of photographic ID and since children can't drive then a passport is probably the only other form they'll have. It's always best to check with your airline before you travel as the rules can vary.
