check the connector for proper seating. sometimes they dont't make contact. or the connectors have grease, oil, or grim build up. it could also be a short that effects just the head lights. hope it helps. duboff First thing that came to Rolfo's mind was a malfunctioning switch.

What is the problem with a 2000 chev cavalier when the headlights won't work on high beam and the Day Time Running lights won't work?

The problem may be the electronic module that controls your daytime running lights. If there is a plug to the module, unplug it and the hi beam lights will work. The Hi Beam light indicator may not work now though until you replace the module.

Does a 1999 Subaru Outback have automatic headlights?

Yes, inasmuch as they turn off when you shut off the engine and remove the ignition key; and the standard daytime running lights come on when you're driving. You have to switch from DRL to headlights with a switch, though - but in my soob I just leave my headlight switch on all the time anyway.

Are the cooling and heating mode buttons -examples - panel-floor - defrost - in a 1996 Honda Accord supposed to light up when the headlights are on?

not with just your daytime running lights. but when you turn your park lights and low beams on, it should light up. not that big of a deal though

When approaching an aircraft at night should headlights be turned off?

Yes! Pilots are very careful about their night vision, and you -will- upset them if you put your headlights in their eyes. This is not to say that you should turn all your lights off though. You should have your parking lights on, as well as turning on your four-way blinkers (hazard lights) whenever driving on the airport ramp.

If the daytime running lights are out on 2002 Pontiac Sunfire sedan but headlights work and service lights come on when running lights try to go on how can you fix this on your own?

you need to change the bulbs Once the running lights burn out the rest of the bulb doesn't work right one of my low beams went out and the running light would flash a light out display and the rest of the lights would work right. I replaced it and everything went back to normal You can also try replacing the DRL (daytime running light) relay in the fuse box on the side of the dash. It pulls right out...$12 for replacement. From my experience the problem may not have to do with the DRL, but with the turn signal switch / headlight switch module. These are approximately 59.00. You will need a steering wheel puller, screwdriver (flathead), and possibly pliers. Be sure to disconnect the battery before servicing though.

Can you takeoff a runway without runway lights?

Sure! You've got your taxi lights to use as headlights, so you can see the edges of the runway and not run off the sides or end of it. I wouldn't recommend landing on an unlit runway, though.

What causes the battery light to come on when the car is still running The headlights and inside lights dim and come back on full charge you already had the alternator and battery replaced?

There might be a short somewhere, and it is drawing alot of power. It is like an electric chair...When extra voltage is used, the lights flicker, and when the switch is off,it goes back to normal. trying to find the short could be hard though.

How do you troubleshoot lights on a 2000 town and country?

Not very specific on the question. I can go with my experience, though. My 2000 T&C would turn off my headlights as I was driving. No special warning, and it did it randomly. Even when I had the fog lights on, it turned off my headlights. A new headlight switch fixed it right up! Make sure you get the right switch! The non-fog light switch and the switch with fog lights have very different electrical connectors!

Why dont the tail lights and brake lights on a 1994 Ford F150 work even though the headlights and reverse lights do?

All those circuts are seperate. They each have there own fuse. If all the tail lights and brake lights are out check the main wire harness that feeds them. Check to see if it's been damaged or unplugged. Check the fuses of course. Check the bulbs also.

What would cause daytime running lights and fog lights to flicker while high-beam indicator on dash flickers on 1996 Pontiac Sun-fire - Headlights work fine in the on position?

That's kinda weird. I have a guess, though. I'd check for loose connections in the light sockets or wiring, primarily a loose ground wire.Let us know what you find.FriPilot

Why do the head lights dash lights turn off and on and the security light come on when a Saturn l 200 has been running for an hour or more?

I do not have an answer, but I do have the same problem as you do. I have a 2001 L200, and from the moment you start the engine, every few seconds, the security light will flash and the temperature and gas gauge needles will act as if you turned off the car, and then pop back up where they should be. When the headlights are on, the dash lights will flash along with the security light and the gauges. The headlights and radio are not affected, though. In addition to that, the odometer has also stopped working. It has read the same milage since I noticed some time ago. I will let you know if I find out anything.

How do you i operate the headlights on 2007 Volvo s80?

if your car is like my 09, you don't need to do anything. the car is set up to always be on. the three choices are a) AUTO, b) parking lights, c) ON. on other cars, like BMW, AUTO means "headlights off" under bright conditions (or dim daytime running lights only - depending upon how the car is programed by the dealer) and "headlights on" under dark conditions - controlled by the built in light sensor. on the S80 the daytime running lights, which are the same as normal low beams, are on whenever the car is running. So in essence AUTO's "off" and "on" is the same, which is very similar to ON mode. the only difference I've noticed is that in AUTO mode, pulling the turn signal is for flashing the high beams vs. when in ON mode the same action turns on the high beam. parking lights on the other hand turns off the head lights and only the parking lights are on. I know that sound confusing. I usually leave it in the AUTO mode as I rarely use the high beams in the city. ON would also work though as the lights automatically turn off in both modes when you shut off the engine so either way you shouldn't kill your battery. note: I am in CA and that factory set up may be unique to CA. Hope that helps

Why would the instrument panel lights not work even though the headlights are working on a 1997 Jeep Wrangler?

2004 Honda crv cruise control does not work when headlights are on?

What could cause the headlights to go on but not up on a 1985 Celica GTS if the motors are working?

If the motors are working, then there has to be a problem between the motors and the lights. If they are only "working" though if you bench test them, and they don't actually do anything when you turn on the lights, then there must be an electrical problem such as a break in a wire or a bad ground to the motors.

Why are your trailer brake lights staying on when you turn your headlights on?

First you need to understand that most, if not all, vehicle [autos, trucks, and trailers] rear lighting systems have both tail light bulbs and brake light bulbs, OR a single bulb on each side [right and left] that each have two filaments [what glows when electricity is applied]. The tail lights are supposed to be on when the headlights, or parking lights, in the towing vehicle are turned on. The separate brake light bulb, or brake light filament in the dual filament bulbs is only supposed to turn on when the brake pedal is depressed, and the towing vehicle brake lights are on. I suspect that what you are calling brake lights are actually the tail lights. To check this out, run some tests. Have an assistant sit in the vehicle and do the following on your command: 1. Apply brakes by pressing on the brake pedal. The brake lights should turn on. 2. With foot OFF of the brake, turn on the headlights. The trailer tail lights should turn on. 3. With the headlights on, have the assistant depress the break pedal. Even though the tail lights are already on, the brake lights should come on also, causing the trailer lights to brighten noticeably 4. While you're checking, have the assistant turn the ignition key to on, and one at a time test the left and right turn signals. Again, I think what you think are brake lights, are actually the tail ligts.

How can you open the headlight covers on a 1989 Ford Probe?

If your headlights wont come up when you turn the lights on then you will have to "turn" them up manually.......look under your front end for the box that controls your flip up headlights and find where you need to turn/crank to get them to come up manually. Remember though, they will be up permanently unless you crank them up and then back down all the time.

What if your 1992 BMW 325i e36 headlights are on even though the switch is in off position Is this the function of the vehicle or is it a wiring issue?

make sure all othe lights are working correclty. if they are, then its very possible, the daytime driving lights are on, the only way to turn them off, is to hook up the dealer scan tool computer to turn them off.
