Haynes book is useless here. I replaced the chain/crankshft gear because a small piece of plastic on the left side of the tensioner bracket fell into the crankshaft gear and chain breaking the chain and twisting the gear around. I removed this plastic on the new bracket; that was 3 years ago. The small hole in the timing gear goes over the cam gear center, the crankshaft mark(dimple) goes between the two gears, this puts the crank keyway almost straight up. Align so there is a straight line between gears centers, hole and dimple. Both #1 valves must be closed at this setting.

If the engines are the same more than likely yes. But why would you go to all the trouble of replacing the timing chain and gears and then install used. Install new chain and gears.
