yes
It is on top of the charcoal cannister in the engine bay.
The EGR valve is a stand alone component of the Emissions controls.
My 94 escort was doing the same thing. I replaced the throttle valve assembly and that seems to have done the trick. Hopefully that helps you out.
egr valve
It will stop running. It could do major damage to the valve/piston or you could get lucky and it will just need the belt replaced.
About the only emissions equipment on a 68 was a pcv valve.
it shoulb be replaced about every 35,000 miles but some might be rivited into the value cover
The 1993 Ford escort did not come with an EGR valve. It is one of a few year models that do not have one.
no no no the zetec 2.0 dohc has vct it is variable valve timing in which that's why zx2's don't have egr valve and pretty much at a certain rpm the exhaust cam retards timing for a bit of performance and cleaner emissions
according to the emissions label it does not have an EGR valve.
The Idle Air Control (IAC) valve is faulty and should be replaced. Another reason is that the fuel filter could be clogged up. Also, the air cleaner element may need to be replaced.
No it would not as it is for emissions only and has nothing to do with engine running. If you have a problem then you will need to have the engine scanned for codes and diagnosed. That should fix your running problem. If you have not replaced the fuel filter in the last 2 years or 30,000 miles then that should help the situation.
