You say the hit and run driver is uninsured, so apparently you know who they are. In that case, if you have collision coverage file it with your carrier who will go to the uninsured driver for repayment (your deductible as well), once the claim has been paid. If you do not have collision coverage, you can file a state report, which will (more than likely) cause a loss of license, plates, fines, and require payment to you from the uninsured for your damages, you can also file a small claims suit and get a judgement, then garnishment etc. good luck !!
========================================= Theres nothing you really can do except fix your car. You can report it to the authorities to try and find the other car, but there isn't much else.
Yes. As long as you were insured when the accident happened they will pay the claim.
Sometimes a deductible will cover a hit and run accident if the driver does not have the license plate number. More often than not, they will not cover the accident because there is no proof of the accident.
Hit-and-Run
Comprehensive insurance
If you caused the accident, you owe for the legal liability, the other matters are civil & not involving the liability portion of the insurance. They still have a duty to pay.
You can only claim against the rental company if the driver took out their insurance. If he has his own separate insurance, that is where you need to make the claim.
Report the accident to the police. Request that the police provide hit and run driver info to your insurance company. This is the only legal way to do what you are asking where I live.
Medical or Health Insurance
the driver that did the hitting and running ultimately is responable maybe not for the original accident but leaving the scene ,puts that driver in a world of hurt
Pretty much nothing. Learn a lesson, always carry insurance!

You give it to the police and they will deal with it. Or your insurance company will deal with it.
