The food in the freezer might still be OK. The food in the refrigerator is a different story. If potentially hazardous items like meat and milk have reached temperatures over 40°F for more than 2 hours, you really should discard them.

∙ 11y agoDepends on how long has the power been off, you should check the contents of the fridge as soon as the power is back on. If the food (solids or liquids ) are room temp. I personally will clean my fridge and trash the content.
But if the stuff still cold as always, I'll keep it and consume it normally.

Anything you take out of the freezer and leave thawed for 8 hours is probably NOT good any more. Putting it back in the fridge won't help.
