Unfortunately, there were problems with kids bringing vodka in water bottles to school. For this reason some schools prohibit water bottles, or require that the water bottles be frozen (since alcohol doesn't freeze so a frozen wather bottle obviously can't be vodka).
when traveling on airplanes carry on luggage with liquid bottles need to be 3 ounces or less therefore, You can't have three ounces of liquid in a six ounce bottle. Liquid can be transferred into travel size bottles found at places like wal-mart or rite aid. For checked luggage, I'm not sure.

Not always, but sometimes. Wine bottles are pretty much OK. Jars of jelly have been ok for me. The more air, the more the chance of bursting. Sometimes bottles leaked around seals without breaking the glass. I try to remember to put glass items into a gallon zip lock bag in my suitcase.
