If the clutch pedal still goes all the way to the top, and there is still about the same amount of "free travel" as you press the clutch, it's probably a problem with the clutch disk.

If the clutch disk used with the Chev/350 Pickup tends to have any problems it's that the center positioning bushing occasionally breaks (usually after many miles of use) and can cause the disk to bind between the flywheel and pressure plate, even when you press the clutch pedal.

In other words, if the clutch pedal still feels the same you'll probably need to replace the clutch disk.

On the other hand, if the "free travel" has increased, you'll probably need to replace/repair either the clutch master cylinder or slave cylinder or possibly (if you're lucky) just add fluid.

What is nas value of hydraulic oil?

The NAS value of hydraulic oil is in reference to the contamination level of the hydraulic oil. The NAS value is a standard within the aerospace industry.

What is the function of a baffle in a hydraulic reservoir?

The baffle helps to hinder the motion of waves and splashing which also helps to keep air from getting within the hydraulic system .

How do you fix Chrysler code P0730 incorrect gear ratio do I need to go to a dealership?

You have a problem with your transmission. The transmission is trying to shift to a lower gear than necessary. Check the transmission fluid first and if it is low add the correct transmission fluid. Do not Overfill. If this does not solve the problem than the transmission fluid may need to be changed or you may have another problem within the transmission. Can be a bad shift solenoid or a problem with the hydraulic control unit. You need to take it to a Chrysler dealership or to a trusted transmission specialist for service. Do not neglect this or serious damage may be done to the transmission if you continue to drive it.

Why does a car need transmission fluid?

To lubricate the moving parts within the transmission and to also help cool the transmission.

Is Chrysler atf-4 fluid fully synthetic?

Depends which brand. The atf that the dealer sells, #05013457aa, is a semi synthetic. Valvoline +4 #346, is fully synthetic. First of all, the dynamics between synthetic engine oil and transmission fluid are fundamentally different. Synthetic Engine oil is pure lubrication while preventing molecular degradation and absorbing heat. Transmission fluid functions as a hydraulic medium where today's modern transmissions can create 100-500 psi. A major problem inherent with hydraulic systems is dirt and debris. The filter must be changed whenever new fluid is added or else you're wasting money. The viscosity between conventional/synthetic hydraulic fluid is less of a concern, but a heavily "additive" hydraulic fluid can actually cause fluctuations within the pump and the psi pressure to allow smooth shifting and holding shift. Many of the posts deal with hydraulic leaks (100-500 psi - no wonder) because leaks develop around deteriorating gaskets, wiring harness inserts and various other probes which represent the weakest link in the hydraulic system. Many additives actually accelerate the degradation of these important gaskets, O-rings and synthetic rubber components within the transmission itself. In reality, the more benign the transmission fluid, the better it functions, plus changing the fluid every 20,000 miles on a regular basis. OBTW, never put a drain plug on the bottom of our transmission pan because you just created another weak link. J.W. Mac

Where is the transmission filter for a Mitsubishi Galant?

The Mitsubishi Gallant does not have a removable transmission filter. It is found within the internal workings of the transmission itself.

What is oil transmission?

Transmission oil is a motor oil specifically manufactured for transmissions and differentials in cars. Compared to engine oil it is of a higher viscosity which ensures good transfer and better protects the gears. This heavy oil can create viscous drag and lead to inefficiencies in operation. Some modern automatic transmissions do not use such a heavy oil at all but lubricate with the lower viscosity hydraulic fluid, which is available at pressure within the automatic transmission. Transmission oil is usually associated with a strong sulfur smell.
