Bad oil pressure sending unit?
Yes
Simple fix is usually a new oil pressure sending unit. It could be unplugged or the line broken somewhere. If none of these are the case, it's probably a bad gauge and will need to be replaced.
In most cases it is the sending unit in the fuel tank at fault.
Low oil, no oil pressure, bad sending unit, wiring, bad gauge,.............
check the oil sounds like it has none
Your check gauge light comes on if : your coolant temperature guage shows the temperature is high your oil pressure gauge shows the oil pressure is low or your fuel gauge shows the fuel tank is near empty
it might be a fuse
Check with manual gauge - if pressure normal - could be defevtive oil pressure sensor or gauge
Attach a fuel pressure gauge to the service port on the fuel rail.
On a 2002 Ford Ranger : The check " gage " light comes on if : The engine coolant temperature is TOO HIGH The engine oil pressure is TOO LOW or The fuel gauge is at or near empty
It could be the fuse, but mine is because the floater that measures for the gauge is stuck.
Check engine light : Gauge cluster without tachometer ( under the engine oil pressure gauge ) Gauge cluster with tachometer ( just to the left of the battery voltage gauge )
