Try smacking the gas tank with a mallet a few times. If the truck starts right up, you'll know its the fuel pump.
To restart a Jaguar after running out of gas, turn the key on and off a few times. Turning the key on will signal the fuel pump to pump gas into the carburetor.
Cycle the ignition switch on and off several times pausing briefly in the on position. This will prime the fuel system.
If you are sure that it ran out of fuel and that the fuel pump is running then turn the key on ( Do not try to start it) wait 10 seconds and then turn key off wait 10 seconds and repeat this step about 4 times. Then try to start the engine.
start with fuel filter could be clogged, could be faulty fuel pump.
I'd check the ignition module, my Chevy did the same thing, once it warmed up it would sputter a couple of times the blow a flame out the exhaust pipe, then death. i had to wait 4 to 5 hours for it to cool down till i could start it.
Either manually pump fuel into the fuel filter (as in, do this several hundred times), or pour some diesel fuel directly into the fuel filter.
