Began with tune up. Plugs, wires, cap, rotor. Then check coil pack. Check all fuses. If you have a coil pack...then why would you check cap and rotor....the coil pack replaces cap and rotor.....Repalce all plugs and wires (ONE AT A TIME!!!) so you don't screw up the firing order in which case you won't be able to start the care at all then....and make you sure you have the right gap size of the plugs when putting them in. It could be anything from a shot bearing, bad or bent tie-rod or stabilizer, to just a common alignment problem. Best thing to do is take it to a local shop and ask them what is causing the problem. Any good reputable shop will usually take the time to quickly diagnose a problem for you and suggest what you might be able to do to fix the problem. -Kyle Slipdunk2@hotmail.com

I purchased a HAYNES repair manual ($10) for the 1999 Nissan Maxima; vehicles have same engine and mechanical components. The manual will depict the numbering of the cylinders/ignition coils. In addition,I suggest purchasing a $10 multimeter, you can benchcheck the ignition coil in question, which the manual will provide you with a step-by-step procedure. WARNING: If you have one bad ignition coil, get prepared to change more...this seems to be a common problem with the Maxima and Infiniti I30s. The dealership charges an outrageous price for these, but I suggest Auto Zone (Wells igntion) or the likes for purchasing these for if you have to replace all six this might save you $300 or more. your owners manuel should have the cylinder designations
Suggest you visit your local public library, and find the Chilton's Repair Manual for the 1999 Ford Expedition. They show the wiring diagram for the ignition coil in the Manual.
