replace it. when they go bad you can't fix them.
The most likely cause is an inoperative radiator fan.
The dealership would be a good place to start.
Changing a thermostat on a 2008 Dodge Avenger can be difficult because there area two thermostats. One is located under the intake manifold inside a housing unit, and the second is at the end of the radiator hose.
I did this last week on my 99 avenger. What you want to do is remove the air intake and the battery, they get in the way and make it hard to remove the covering. Next remove 4 bolts from the place where the thermostat is. mine was directly on the right of the engine. Take out the screws and remove the old thermostat. Insert new one and put everything back where you got it.
If you follow the bottom hose on your radiator it will lead you to it. You will have to remove 3 bolts on the thermostat housing to get to it but it should only take you about 20 minutes to change it out.
Never heard of a battery temperature sensor being installed in any normal vehicle. Some race cars yes, but not in a daily driver such as your Avenger.
under the housing where the lower radiator hose hooks to the engine
It is under the housing where the lower radiator hose hooks the the engine.
Bad thermostat, loose water pump impeller. Does it have a electric fan? Bad head gasket?
It is under the housing where the lower radiator hose hooks to the engine.
It's located right on the intake tube.
It is under the housing where the lower radiator hose hooks to engine.
The four cylinder has two thermostats in the housing where the upper radiator hose attaches to the engine. The v6 thermostat is under the housing where the upper radiator hose attaches to the engine also.
Should be located in a removable a housing at the engine end of the upper radiator hose Drain about 1 gallon of coolant from the radiator Remove this housing Note how thermostat is installed Clean both surfaces Replace thermostat and gasket Re-install housing Start engine and look for leaks Run engine to normal operating temperature with heater on Re-check coolant level
There are two. Both are under the plastic housing on the driver side end of the cylinder head.
i had the same problem w/my 97 avenger its a clogged heater core if u take the hose off from the fiewall and use a hose to unclog the heater core u should be all set.also thermostat can be gone id do thermostat then heater core
beneath the radiator cap. the upper radiator hose goes to the housing with the radiator cap on it. take off that housing and the thermostat is there.
Teh According to BrammerCheck the radiator, make sure it isn't leaking. Also make sure the car's water pump isn't busted. You should also check the radiator cap and cooling fans you can check to see if the fans are working by turning on your air conditioner ( Fans should come on when ac is on)
