I have a 98' Cadillac deville and it should constantly read around 197-201 when you are driving. It will definitely increase when you come to rest: example at a street light. something is definitely wrong and should be checked.
water pump or thermostat housing crack
when overheating occurs at highway speeds the cause is usually. a radiator or coolant circulation problem, Check for a restricted or clogged radiator.
The coolant temp sensor is probably doing its job. You may have other issues such as being low on coolant or a thermostat going bad.
The number of miles per gallon that the 1997 Cadillac DeVille can achieve is dependant on a number of factors such as the condition the vehicle is in or the driving style of the driver. However, the Cadillac DeVille is believed to get between 17 and 23 miles per gallon.
One reason a 1998 Cadillac Deville would cut off while driving could be the fuel pump or the car is out of fuel. Another reason could be the spark plugs.
You have a hole in your brake line.
the coolant temperature sensor is faulty. It will need to be replaced
17 city 26 highway. Expect around 20-22 combined driving.
From all of my experience with cars if a car turns off while in motion it tends to be the alternator.
It means you dont need to be driving such a fancy vehicle, lol look in your manual, it helps. It is controled by the outside temperature, it is just telling you that there may be a chance of ice on the road or wherever ice first forms, bridges etc.
crank or camshaft sensor check for codes put your beauiful car on the neutral when you're braking you'll stop to stall
Normal range is 190-220 F
Idk what exactly u want to know. But i have a 2000 cadillac deville and i put mid-grade in the tank but regular does work fine with no problems. The mpg varies from anywhere between a high 17 mpg to close to 20 mpg because the dash is digital and it changes often depending on your driving. Its not too bad for local driving and the cruise control on mine never worked so im sure by using that you save more gas also. Hope this helped
anything below 231 degrees F , mine runs between 196 to 212 degrees F
radiator plugged.or coolant low
Check the coolant level. Not just the bottle but in the radiator too. The 3400 motor is known for leaking coolant at the intake manifold.
Driving conservatively and on the lower end of gears
Because when your moving, air is moving at the radiator, cooling it down, thus cooling your coolant down, thus cooling your motor temperature down causing the coolant temperature sensor to pick up a lower reading and relaying it to the gauge. Depending on how high it is in "Park" you may have poor circulation, a broken or missing fan shroud, weak water pump impellers, low coolant, inactive coolant fans or a bad fan clutch.
Your car is more than likely still under warranty, and you need to take it back to the dealer for them to look at it.
There were two Cadillac cars featured in the movie "Driving Miss Daisy." These included a 1955 and a 1956 Cadillac Fleetwood. The movie also featured a 1948 Hudson Commmodore.
Yes, if your car is not overheating. P0118 is a 'high coolant' alert. You probably have a bad temperature sensor.

check coolant level and make sure there is no coolant leaks
