Your car is equipped with an anti-theft detterent system. Your system is not communicating properly. This could be one of two problems, the first is the ignition switch. In this mechanism there is a micro chip, that is causing the car to disable the fuel pump. The second problem could be a faulty BCM or a combination of both. I had this same problem and had to get a new ignition switch. At first, it works with the 10min on procedure. Eventually it will stop working and your car will not start at all.
you simply can't!
its an ignition fuse, i had the same prob with mine
try replacing your battery maybe turn the key?
I need to know how to bypass the anti theft system pass key on a 1997 Pontiac grand am. my car will start but goes dead. wont remain running

Start 2001 winstar with no key
When turning key, do you have power? If not, then check battery, cables etc. If so, then could be a bad starter/starter relay. If cranks, but doesn't start, then check fuel pressure, crank/cam sensor, ignition module, coil etc.
ITS CALLED YOUR KEY... TURN IF OFF
Sometimes my sons 2001 Grand Am does that. It has to do with the Security System. Turn the key to ACC the Security light will start blinking and will continue to do so for 10 minutes. At that time the Security Light will stay on. At that point you can start you car. This works for him Good Luck.
turn the key forward to the on,but dont start it the press the gas petal 3 times and turn switch off the after that start it and see it that helps
I got a friend whose key can't turn the ignition on her 2000 Pontiac Grand Am. She can't get the steering wheel to unlock either.
A person can get the keys out of their 1999 Pontiac Grand AM SE by calling a local locksmith. He will be able to create a new key, which will allow entry back into the car.
On a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am: turn the key to the on position for 30 minutes or until the security light goes out. The car should start.
take your key to a hardware store and ask them to copy it. it wont cost much. if you lost the key completely, you are skrewed
could be neutralsafety switch or clutch pedal switch.
at a Chevy dealer, talk to the parts guy, he can make you a new key for your car as long as the locks haven't been changed. I worked at a mechanic shop so with that discount, it cost $6 for me on a 92 car gm car.
There are noises and lights that tell a driver there is something wrong with a car. The chiming when the door is shut and the key is removed, usually indicates that a light may be on.
have you checked to be sure the wheel lock is not engaged.? pull down on the left side of the wheel, as if trying to turn left, then try to turn the key.
check your ignition fuse- check your crank senser and wires- when you turn your key on but dont start engine listen for the fuel pump to buzz- check for gas in the fuel rail-check for spark
The ignition switch in a 2004 Pontiac grand am can be installed by first Sliding out old lock cylinder and then Press the small release tab While turning the key to the ON Position.
The pass key system needs to be reset, as if the car forgot the code it reads from the key. To reset the system follow these steps. 1. Start the car 2. Let the car die as it was doing and then dont touch the key. 3. Let the car sit there for 20 or 30 min with the key on 4. Turn the key off then start the car up and you should be all set. I called a GM dealer and they told me they had to recalibrate the passkey system 100$ .... screw the dealer.
