How long it will take to fill out a Federal Tax Return will vary greatly, depending on how many sources of income one has, how many deductions or tax credits one is taking, etc. A person who is competent in math and whose only income is from employment (who receives a W-2) and does not itemize deductions can usually fill out a 1040-EZ, which would likely take them less than an hour. A person who owns their own business could take several days to fill out a tax return (and would likely hire an account or other tax professional to help them file).
