One route you might want to consider: setting up a homepage for your group on a fundraising website. Having a group homepage online makes organizing and fundraising infinitely easier ... And though the majority of fundraising sites require you have official non-profit status, many good ones only require that you are a group - and will give you plenty of the tools you need.

For example, one good site is Meet Up (www.meetup.com), who allow you to fundraise directly to your account, and register a group without having an official non-profit status - and they cover groups around the world, while giving you some tools to do event management. But the tools they offer are a little limited outside of fundraising.

Another good option would be Empowered.org (www.empowered.org), a platform that also helps small groups fundraise and organize (regardless of non-profit status). They also work for international groups - and offer a fair amount of useful tools, like the ability to organize your group or to create volunteer activities and fundraising campaigns for more targeted ways to raise support.

Or you could always try to send up your own PayPal account to link to you directly to help you fundraise, but this is a little trickier and a bit inflexible.

There are many fund raising ideas that people could utilize to make some extra money for whatever they need whether it be an upcoming business trip or new supplies. Fund raising ideas are many, but how well they work will depend greatly on your area. For instance, a bake sale might not raise the kind of money you need for your institution. Instead you may want to think on a larger scale like getting some corporate sponsorship to invest in your ideas.

If you work for a non-profit organization, you have many different fund raising ideas to choose from. Because you are non-profit you will be able to take 100% of the donations and you most likely will not have to pay any taxes on it at all. A great fund raising idea would be to have some popular local bands organize a show specifically to raise money for what you need. Simply advertise for the shows by finding a few sponsors who are willing to take it on. Then charge about $10 a head for the show, letting them know that 100% of the profit will go toward helping your non-profit make ends meet. You will make so much money that you will even be able to pay many of the bands that play for you.

Another fund raising idea is to have a silent auction and dinner. For such an event, you could easily charge about $35 a head and have the dinner catered by a local restaurant. Then, after dinner, have everyone browse the silent auction while a quiet jazz band plays. In addition, get a license to distribute liquor that has been donated from a local brewery or winery and you’ve got a great night ahead of you. Find different stores that are willing to donate items for the auction and get them out there. You will be amazed at how much money you will be able to bring in from a simple process like this. The money is out there, you just have to know how to find it.
