The first stage of the Atkins diet is to put your body in "ketosis". This is when the body is forced to burn your store of fat for energy because your food is not providing enough carbohydrates to meet your energy needs. To go into ketosis you should go on a strict zero carbohydrate diet for a few days. It can take as long as a week to get yourself into ketosis. You can find out when this happens by peeing on small strips of paper called ketosis sticks. You get them at a pharmacy. When they turn color you're in ketosis. I forget if the color change is pink to blue or blue to pink. This is a great diet if you like meat, eggs & cheese but if you cheat its very unforgiving.

The Atkins diet is a blessing for those who are looking to lose weight and eat healthy at the same time. Atkins has been around for years, and it is one of the easiest things to do. The diet is in phases, and as you continue from phase one to phase two and beyond, you add more foods to your diet. Most of the foods that are consumed on the Atkins diet are low in carbohydrates so you don't get much sugar in your diet.

Staying On The Atkins Diet?

The Atkins Diet is one of the best-known high protein diets available on the market today. One of the reason people fail on the Atkins Diet is because they can't follow the restrictive first phase of the diet. The first phase of the Atkins diet is designed to trigger the fastest weight loss possible, but if you find it too difficult to stay on the first part of the diet try skipping the first phase of the diet and leaping directly into the second part. It might cause slower weight loss, but it's better than falling off your diet completely.
