Under-the-Sea Kids Bathroom

One of the rooms in your home that you can remodel easily is the bathroom. If you have more than one bathroom, you can make one of them an under the sea adventure for your children with a little paint, wall hangings and decorations. The best color of paint to get is teal or a lighter blue. Avoid dark blues because this will look more like a night setting instead of a colorful sea.

Begin by removing all of the old paint and wallpaper from the bathroom. You can add white tile if you want to make the bathroom even brighter. You should also remove any toys and curtains that are in the bathroom. The first thing that you want to do is paint the walls in the blue paint that you choose. Let the paint dry before you add wall decorations.

When the paint is dry, begin adding items to the wall that will make it look like you are under the sea. Round mirrors look better than square mirrors because they resemble portholes. If you are using a color with the blue, try to keep it to white or beige. A clear shower curtain with fish can be used in the bathtub. You can also get a mat or nonskid stickers to place in the bottom of the tub in the shape of fish.

After the large items are placed in the bathroom, you can begin adding the small details. Place a clear jar on the bathroom sink with seashells in it. Get a soap dish, toothbrush holder and cup that have fish or sea creatures on them. Blue towels can be added on any hooks that are on the walls. You can get rugs that are a solid color or rugs in the shape of fish. Hang pictures on the wall of fish, boats and other things that you would see in the ocean. Allow your kids to help with some of the smaller decorations so that they feel like they were involved in the process.
