THE temp sending unit 4 the inside gauge usally has 1 wire & the sending unit 4 the Computer has 2 wires.
The sensor used for displaying the engine coolant temperature on the gauge in the dash is located near the thermostat housing. I have included a link that has pictures that show its location. Just click on the pictures to enlarge them. When you do, you can see the wires that go to the sensor. Good Luck, Greg
That would be the engine coolant temp sensor for the dash gauge only. The sensor near the thermostat housing is the engine temp sensor for the ECM.
Hi, It sounds like you have a fuel level sensor that is starting to go bad. This sensor is located in the fuel tank, and depending on the age of the van, will probably have to be replaced.
usually on the left of the engine between the first two spark plugs
Your engine coolant temperature gauge has a sensor ( there is also a engine coolant temperature sensor that is used for the computer / PCM )
It does not have a coolant sensor, But it does have a temperature gauge sensor and you can find it screewed into the driverside head between the first 2 spark plugs up front,
My fuel gauge, odometer and radiator gauge isn't working and my radio says locked. How can I fix this?
seriously? it tells you what temperature you engine coolant/antifreeze is. that is how your gauge on the dash knows what your temperature is at.
Top rear of the engine next to the distributor.
its on the coolant bypass pipe, right front corner of cylinder head near alternator
Check actual engine temperature with a thermometer--if in acceptable range temperature sensor or gauge may be defective
On a 1986 Chevy Celebrity V6 the sensor that operates the gauge or temp light is on the head by the firewall at the rear of the engine. There is another temperature sensor on the water outlet. There is another temperature sensor that controls the cold start injector it is on the intake manifold next to the fuel rail. Fuel injected models only.
