The gas tank must be removed. First disconnect the fuel neck from behind the fuel door. Next remove all of the bolts for the heat shield, remove heat shield. Disconnect the gear clamp from the back side of the filler neck. Now you will need to release the tank straps via two bolts prevously covered by the heat shield. Lower the gas tank using a floor jack. The pump wires and hoses are long enough for the tank to set on the ground without disconnecting them. Now the filler hose is accessable remove the gear clamp and pull it of of the tank.
