I took mine to a Ford dealer and they looked on the driver side in a cavity inside the interior trim behind the rear wheel. Later they determined removing a jumper from the box under the dash allowed them to code a new remote following a specific process of steps. The initial steps involved turning on and off the ignitation several times.
