The filter on the CD4E automatic trans is NOT user changeable - it's way up inside and doesn't require regular / routine changing.
My Contour didnt have a transmission filter. It was just one of those inline things that needed to be back flushed.
The transmission plug on a 1995 Ford Contour is located on the side of the pan. It allows for fluid to be quickly drained during maintenance.
Inside the transmission under the pan.
your better off replacing the transmission the filter is not servicable ,,its deep in the center of the trans
Inside the transmission. The pan must be removed to access the filter.
ransmissionfilter fordcontour
i need to see a picture about where this is
The automatic transmission filter is pretty much buried inside the transmission, and is not easily accessed.
The Ford Contour was produced from the years 1995 to 2000. The front pump transmission seal in a 1998 Ford Contour is located very close to the camshaft.
you have to remove trans pan,and filter will be right there to replace
Inside the transmission.
Remove the trans pan and then the filter. If the pan is on the front of the transmission, it cannot be replaced without rebuilding the transmission; because the bearings must be removed in order to get to the filter. Ford Contour transmissions do not have removeable filters. There is a metal screen which generally never needs to be replaced.
