If the British Navy had STOPPED kidnapping US Seamen on the high seas (or anywhere else) the "War of 1812" may have been avoided.
if the Americans werent touchy about being kidnapped it would of also been avoided
Before the US declared war on Mexico in 1846, the US made offers to buy much of the area now called the US "Southwest" and also an offer to buy the even more valuable California area. The condition added was that Mexico would recognize the Rio Grand River as the borderline between Mexico and Texas. Mexico refused the offer. In the meantime, the British in western Canada, also had at least a notion to pursue California.Could more money have been offered to Mexico to avoid a war? No one can say for sure. But on the home front their was opposition to a war with Mexico. Abolitionists saw the southwest as an area that might spread slavery, as Texas, for example, was already a slave state. In New England, anti-war sentiment was high. They had opposed the War of 1812 and at one time threatened to secede themselves. For the most part, the Whig Party in the Northeast opposed war with Mexico. As an aside, Abraham Lincoln was also not in favor of a war.
Mexico was already aggravated by the entry of Texas in the USA. The question might be boiled down to whether the Mexican dictator, Santa Ana, might try to retake Texas.
Speculation, however, cannot change the facts. Despite US home grown opposition, the US declared war on Mexico. All of what is now the US southwest and more plus California, Mexico ceded to the US and accepted $15 million from the US for the territory.
the revolutionary could have been avoided if the colonies would have approved the Albany plan of union proposed by Benjamen Franklin which states that the colonies should unite and form a army. if we passed it Brittan wouldn't have sent troops here so we would not be taxed for the soldiers for the French and Indian war therefore the events leading up to the American revolution also the revolution itself would have never happened. also if Britain had given westminster respresentation to the colonies it would have been avoided
There have always been 13 stripes on the American flag, as the stripes represent the 13 original colonies. In 1846, there were 28 stars on the flag.
In a charter colony all the people who selected the Governor had a say in all the matters, so any promblem could be delt by the people and revolutions would have been avoided.
If the british was able to accept some ideas of the colonies, and a little more opened minded to the colonists, the war could of been avoided.
Mexicans also chose on their own to classify themselves as "Latin" or "Hispanic" to change their status from general white as they had always been classified, to their own "Latin" feel. This also shows the world that there is more to life than just being "white" or any race. It may have been seen as an insult to the so called "white" that the Mexicans did not want to be considered general "White" but that is not the intention. Every person is their own custom "race" for that matter. No two people are alike. Even in the general "white" race, there are different hues of white.
