Politicians could no longer declare total war anymore. They had to manuever their politics around the new "limited wars", such as Korea and Vietnam. Wars have been declared or fought by statesmen (politicians) for OVER 2,000 years! Commencing in 1945...no more. Atomic Weapons negate that.

you might want to discuss the Bush administration's African policy legacy and its implications for the Obama administration. The US foreign policy during the Cold War was the Truman Doctrine, which was to prevent the expansion of communism to new nations. In other words, containment.
