∙ 14y agoMost People would tell You yes, just because it sounds like the right answer, But more correctly, No you should not Always use a primer when Painting. If You are painting a previously Painted surface that is in good shape, you need not apply a primer. The purpose of a body primer, whether on automobiles, or In your home, is to provide a base coat that soaks into unpainted or sealed surfaces, preventing you from having to spend extra money on Extra paint, as well as block stains from surfacing, and is an all around good surface for your finish paint to adhere to. If you do need not need to use primer, don't, and save yourself the Time and money for another project.
