It doesn't have a separate ignition module. It is built into the main PCM. If you don't have any fire, I would not first think it is the PCM though. The PCM is almost bullet proof on these cars. Usually you have something else like a crank sensor, bad coil, wiring problem. I have even seen problems with the crankshaft trust bearings fail, causing the crank pully exiter ring to no longer be in-line with the crank sensor cause no ignition fire.
Check the ignition coil on the Cheyenne. If it is ok, check the timing. The timing chain could have slipped or broken causing the engine to not start.
yes, it happened to me, what it was, the solenoid of the starter motor got stucked at the closed position causing it to continue working even doe the ingnition key was removed. yes, it happened to me, what it was, the solenoid of the starter motor got stucked at the closed position causing it to continue working even doe the ingnition key was removed.
The gear mechanisms in the steering column may have busted.. also you can try to rotate the steering while,if this doesn't help do it with pair of pliers..got it?!no?!call a locksmith.... Locksmith reply: You can use the pliers to turn it back to the off position but the ignition will need to be replaced. It's pretty common on GM vehicles. Most the time it is just the lock itself that is causing the problem.
A quick fix until you have about $300 to fix it is to turn the key to the ON position for 10 minutes, and when the theft system light stops blinking you can start it right up. You can also just slowly turn the key to the on position (not accessory or start), shift the transmission into neutral (you have to step on the break first) and then start it. This won't work if you have tried to start it and the THEFT light is flashing, see the above answer. the quick fix is to just wait ten minutes for the theft deterant to cut off, the problem isn't realy the ignition but the system itself and its more like 600 hundred to fix at the dealership : Take all the other keys off your keyring, the weight of the other keys maybe causing the ignition key to be unreadable.also it depends on what is wrong with the system. if it the anti-theft system it may be very pricy, but if it is the ignition lock cylinder than it will cost you about $100 for the new lock cylinder and several hours of labor if you are very good at working with cars.
Is there any air flow sensor on chrysler 97 sebring,, or what is causing it to be hard to start, any only runs at idle and back fires when you try to give it gas?? But after it runns 5 mins or so it runs half way desent// It does not use a MAF.
Using a multimeter and spark tester will help find the source of a voltage problem on a 2000 Chrysler Sebring. Having a repair manual on hand will troubleshoot the system, but many electrical problems require tedious sifting through wiring to find the faulty short or ground which is causing an issue.
There could be a few reasons why a 1990 Chrysler Lebaron will crank but not start. The fuel pump could be out or the car could be out of gas. There may be a malfunction in the ignition system causing no spark.
If it is an aftermarket stereo then i would say that the installer tied into the dashboard illumination or headlight power wire for 12 volt power for the stereo.
Check for a blown fuse.
could be plugged fuel filter Plugged fuel filter is a good possibility but if that's not it here's another. I recently had a similar problem (97 sebring convertable) where it my car would stutter while driving, ended up needing new plug wires as two of the old ones were failing intermittantly, causing incosistent firing of the plugs.
1989 Chrysler Lebaron 2.5 engine and you get a lot of oil in your air cleaner compartment what is causing this
The rheostat in the light stalk is dirty and getting a bad connection causing the dash lights to flicker dim to bright and so on. Try turning the reading and dash lights on and off several times moving the rotary switch from all the way off to all the way on abd back several times. This sometimes will clear the problem for a period. If not, the light stalk will require replacement.
copper will not 'spark' causing ignition of the powder. Steel can produce a 'spark' causing the powder to ignite................
The car will initially start with a non-programmed key but will not run more than a few seconds. The non-programmed key unlocks the doors and the trunk but cannot be used to run the engine. It is apparently an anti-theft feature.
You can not disable it. You have to fix whatever is causing it to go off.
