He lived in the Château du Clos Lucé, where he continued to create some of his most notable works.
The most important piece to emerge from France during the Renaissance period is arguably the painting "Mona Lisa" by Leonardo da Vinci, created in the early 16th century. While da Vinci was Italian, the painting became emblematic of the French Renaissance after it was acquired by King Francis I. Its innovative use of sfumato and the enigmatic expression of the subject reflect the period's artistic advancements and fascination with humanism. The "Mona Lisa" continues to be celebrated as a masterpiece and a symbol of Renaissance art.
It started during Charles VIII's rule til Henry IV's death.
Because he was one of the renaissance best painters. Along with people such as Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and Jan van eyck. What really made him important though is that he made the best portrait of king Henry VIII. I hope that answered your question. :)
Jacques Cartier's patron was King Francis I of France. Cartier undertook his voyages to the New World under the commission of the king, who sought to expand French territory and influence in North America. The support from Francis I was crucial for Cartier's explorations, as it provided the necessary resources and backing for his expeditions in the early 16th century.
King François I ordered the Chateau to be built. He was the original owner, and wanted it to be closer to his mistress, and used it for hunting trips. For more than 80 years after the death of King François, French kings abandoned the château, allowing it to fall into decay. Finally, in 1639 King Louis XIII gave it to his brother, Gaston d'Orléans, who saved the château from ruin by carrying out much restoration work. King Louis XIV had the great keep restored and furnished the royal apartments. The king then added a 1,200-horse stable, enabling him to use the château as a hunting lodge and a place to entertain a few weeks each year. Nonetheless, Louis XIV abandoned the château in 1685. From 1725 to 1733, Stanislas Leszczyński (Stanislas I), the deposed King of Poland and father-in-law of King Louis XV, lived at Chambord. In 1745, as a reward for valour, the king gave the château to Maurice de Saxe, Marshal of France who installed his military regiment there. Maurice de Saxe died in 1750 and once again the colossal château sat empty for many years.
