The warning lights on a 1988 Toyota Celica will usually mean that your engine is needing to be serviced. However, the warning lights can also mean that your brakes need to be serviced or repaired.
We have a 1988 Celica GTS and we just replaced our pipes...they were 2"....should be the same....
Possibly a bad alternator (the system is not charging the battery).
You cant just change the bulb, you have to change the whole headlamp.

Get a manual on your car to do the job right. In short, you have to pull the timing belt covers and timing belt. Get a manual.
The lights that light up your gauges. . . I don't think those are the lights being asked about. More likely you are inquiring about the service and warning lights.
There burnt out or something is not connected right
All the warning lights are supposed to turn on for a few seconds as a "bulb check" when turning the key to start the car. Do the lights stay on after the car has started? If so, you could have anything from a faulty ground to a damaged computer.
I have a 1988 Toyota Celica and I had to replace the entire exhaust and it was approx $800.Answeri have an 87 Toyota celica GT and i just took mine down to Marco muffler and they took out out ALL of the mufflers and replaced them with one glasspack (that i provided) and put 2 and a half inch pipe out the back. They wanted $80 and i talked them down to $50. Sounds pretty nice. Not like a rice rocket, but a lower growl.
They are not aftermarket, they just were not done at the Toyota factory. They are factory authorized conversions done in California. I believe the same company may have made GM's convertibles during the late 80's as well.
There is an electrical failure in the trans and will have to be checked out by a good trans shop. GoodluckJoe
