Many vehicles have a similar light such as Maintinence Required or Service Soon, etc. The light is triggered by the mileage on your vehilce. When the odometer reaches a certain number of miles, the light illuminates to remind you to have your vehicle inspected by a reputable mechanic or dealership to ensure that all of the parts of the car are in working order and need no repair or replacement. In general, it is a good idea to have your car inspected every 2000-4000 miles when you have your oil changed. The service light can be ignored for a short time, but it is not advisable to neglect the maintinance of your vehicle as a simple tune up can prevent a major repair.
