Lunar and solar.
Penumbral and umbral (both terms apply to lunar eclipses only).
Partial and total (apply to both lunar and solar eclipses; annular is a special type of partial solar eclipse).

There's really four types. Total eclipses are where the moon completely blocks the sun. Partial eclipses where the moon blocks some of the sun, the alignment is not exact so a 'bite' is taken out of the sun. Then there are annular eclipses, where the alignment is more or less exact, but the moon appears smaller than the sun, so you see a ring of sun. Then there are hybrids, where one type is seen at one point on earth while another type is seen at other locations.

∙ 14y agoThere are two types of solar eclipse, a "total" eclipse which occurs when the moon is near its perigee, and an annular eclipse, when the moon is further out towards apogee.
There are also partial eclipses, where the moon does not completely eclipse the sun.
The two primary types of eclipses would probably be lunar and solar. A lunar eclipse occurs when the earth passes between the sun and moon, such that earth's shadow falls across the lunar surface, making it dark and eerie looking. A solar eclipse is when the moon passes between the sun and earth.
