Its the 'heliocentric' model. 'Helios' means sun in Greek, while 'centric' means centre. This theory has now been shown to be true and is largely accepted as fact. The `Geocentric` model of the sun revolving around the earth, with the earth at the centre has been dismissed.

In the 16th century there were two competing systems, the heliocentric (Sun centered) and geocentric (Earth centered), to describe the motion of the Earth, Sun, moon and planets.

Five hundred years ago people thought the Earth was a stationary solid and unmoving body and the moon, stars and Sun revolved around the Earth. That was called the geocentric, or Earth centered, system.

Nicolaus Copernicus published the statement of his heliocentric, or sun centered, system in his book, De Revolutionibus, in 1543. In the heliocentric theory, the Sun is unmoving at the center of the universe and the stars and Earth orbits around the Sun. The moon still orbits around the Earth, however.

Who was Nickolaus Copernicus and what was his famous theory?

He had a theory that the earth revolved around the sun. Hundreds of years later, scientists proved he was right. Back then, everybody believed Aristotle and they thought the earth was at the center of the universe and everything revolved around it. Galileo kind of based his theory on that too, but it was Copernicus who thought of it.

Air masses have unequal or different temperatures because of the kind of material that compose the Earth's surface, angle of sun's rays, which is due to the shape of the Earth, and the length of daytime, which is due to the tilting of the earth's axis as it revolves around the sun. True or false earth tilts on it axis?

That of course depends on what you call "nearly". The earth's orbit around the sun, like the orbits of all planets, asteroids, and periodic comets, is an ellipse, with the sun at one focus. The eccentricity of the earth's orbit is 0.017. That's more eccentric than Venus' (0.007), but less than Pluto's (0.249). So the minimum distance across earth's orbit is about 98.6% of the maximum distance. To me, that's nearly circular.
