Communism is an economic system like capitalism and socialism rather than a government. What makes it supremely ironic is that under Marx's communism, there would not even be a government at all. Government would have withered away and died out being unnecessary in Marx's new world order of Communism. If one wanted to associate Marx with a theoretical form of government it would be his "Dictatorship of the proletariat." This government is what the proletariat would form once it overthrew the bourgeoisie and took control of the economy. The proletariat would then take political control as well. This government would not be a tyranny. According to Marx, it would be a democratic government, but with the proletariat rather than the bourgeoisie in control.
