The standard tire size for a 1996 VW Polo typically varies by model and trim, but common sizes include 155/70 R13 and 185/60 R14. It's important to check the vehicle's manual or the tire placard located on the driver's side door jamb for the specific size recommended for your particular model. Additionally, considering the specifications of the wheels and driving conditions can help determine the best tire size.
size wise they are nearly the same height as the 175 70 R13 tires specd for the 92-95 dx hatch I have so they wouldent throw the speedo off, but most places wont install them because they dont meet the load rating of 82 the car requires, I belive most 155 80 R13 tires only have a load rating of 79 which is the minimum load of the cx of the same year but the cx takes 165 70 R13 tires so 155 80 R13's would be to tall and throw the speedo off. I was contemplating doing this same thing for less rolling resistance for economy just bump the psi from 32psi to 35psi and the tires would theretically hold the same weight.
