No, you could overload the wiring and start a fire.
how come my cigarette lighter keeps blowing fuses in my 2000 ranger
You might be pulling too much power through the cigarette lighter. Also the cigarette lighter may grounding out for some reason or another. If the car has an aftermarket stereo, whoever installed it may have miswired it.
i have a 2001 Chevy Tahoe 5.3 fuel injected vortex and my cigarette lighter keeps blowing out. i replaced it with 15 amps fuses but it keeps burn it out. i just want to no if that the right amps for this car
I assume you mean the fuse keeps blowing? It's certainly possible for the lighter element itself to go bad as well as the socket you plug it into. Also, there are often other circuits that use the same fuse.
Try replacing element--may be shorted
Far left side of the dashboard under the pop-out panel. The users manual will tell you which fuse it is. 20 amp I believe. Mine keeps blowing the fuse so I put a disposable Bic lighter in the armrest.
Check or replace the socket
Circuit overloaded, short in wiring, or the fuse you are using is not the OEM correct fuse.
Hey, supposedly the fuse that's burning out on you is also connected to the ignition and the cigarette lighter. It might be that whatever Mp3 player or ipod or something of the sort that you charge on your cigarette lighter is causing the problem.
my Chevy cobalt 2005 keeps blowing the fuse everytime i put my windows up or down i had the door wireing replace a new window motor replaced new switch and it still blows the fuse what can the problem be
The problem is probably in the element, the part that gets hot, not in the socket, the part that is in the dashboard. Most auto supply stores carry replacement lighters, or you can find them in a junkyard. Your plug in is probably shorted out or maybe you have some foreign metal in the socket. Try plugging in another lighter. If the fuse blows without the plug in being pushed in, the socket is bad.
dash light and back light on my Montero sport went out and keeps blowing fuses. why
