My 2000 Toyota Sienna van has the same problem. I think it has something to do with the alternator or a belt, but not sure how to fix it. Anyone out there that can help???

If it ONLY occurs when the A/C is turned on it is most likely the belt slipping. Usually because it's old and glazed over. However, if it squeals when either A/C or heat is selected it is most likely the blower motor needing lube or replacement.
To adjust/replace the belt (on my 01) the belt is tensioned using the alternator bracket. I would HIGHLY recommend changing the Power Steering belt while the main belt is off. it's not fun and if you are not mechanically inclined I would recommend having it done by a shop. An easy way to see if is the belt, is to have someone else turn on the A/C (with the motor running) while you listen under the hood. If the squealing starts when the A/C is turned on then it could be the belt. A temporary fix is belt dressing.
Change the brake pads. I have had good luck with PBR Deluxe and PBR Metalmaster. They are quieter and dust a lot less.
