This is quite a common problem on VWs and is normally caused by the clutch master cylinder seizing up slowly over time.
In the end the the clutch pedal breaks where the push rod fits and you loose any clutch control.
If this has happened check to see if the push rod has been bent, if it has then you need to fit a new master cylinder and fit a new pedal or re weld the old one.
This isn't too difficult to do as the whole job can be done from inside the car and under the bonnet with very few tools by a competent DIY mechanic.
You need to bleed your clutch master cylinder line.
Well, we need lots more information here. Is the clutch pedal actually "stuck" to the floor? In other words, can you NOT lift the pedal up to the normal position? OR, has the clutch pedal "fallen" to the floor due to no resistance from the clutch?
If a 1989 Nissan Sentra clutch pedal quit working and the car is now stuck in reverse, it will need to be towed to a repair shop to fix the clutch. The transmission may also be damaged due to it being stuck in reverse.
Clutch master cylinder might be blown out. this is located in the engine bay, the top right.
Replace master and slave cylinder, then bleed hydraulics.
check your clutch fluid lines and your clutch fluid and also bleed the clutch and it should work just fine mine did the same thing and i had to replace a clutch line that was pinched
CHECK SWITCH ON TOP OF CLUTCH PEDAL AS IT SOMETIMES GETS STUCK
u must bleed the system . fill the clutch master cylinder with dot 3 brake fluid and keep an eye on it when bleeding so it wont run out ,have someone pump clutch pedal 3 times and hold to floor and oper bleeder valve on clutch slave cylinder till no air comes out then go to clutch damper and do the same ,follow clutch line fromclutch master cylinderto damper.
Put the transmission in neutral or push the clutch in and then stop the car. When stopped, turn the ignition off.
the piston in your clutch master cylinder is stuck in the cylinder body. you need to remove, hone out, rebuild or buy (best) a new one. on line about $50.
obviously you have a clutch line or slave cylinder leak.
There is a switch on the clutch that won't let the car start unless the clutch pedal is fully depressed. You can turn the key but the starter won't engage. Something stuck under the clutch pedal (matt, etc...) will do it or if someone kicked the switch or possibly the switch has died. You could use a jumper wire to bypass the switch if you had to or just replace the switch.
