The cell bodies of neurons, primarily. Although there may be supporting cells called glial cells and small blood vessels called capillaries. This is as opposed to white matter which contains mainly myelinated axons and does not contain the cell bodies of neurons.

Gray matter consists of cells called neurons and their connections which make up most of the surface of the brain. It is the primary type of tissue in regions that manage muscle control, sensory perception, emotion, and speech. Deeper within the brain is what's called the white matter which are bundled nerve cells that produce and regulate thoughts and actions.

What cells are in the brain?

There are two tissues that makes up the brain and the spinal cord. These are called the grey matter and the white matter. Grey matter is what covers about a half an inch of the brain. White matter is what makes up everything else of the brain.

What tissue found in the brain?

The tissues found in the brain are gray matter and white matter. The gray matter is made up of unmyelinated neurons and it is the area of nerve connections and processing. The white matter is made up of myelinated neurons that connect the regions of gray matter to each other and the rest of the body. The white matter acts as the main information path that speeds up connection between the brain and distant parts of the body.

Which part of the nervous system is gray wrinkly organ made up of millions of neurons?

The gray matter of the brain is described like this.

The islands of gray matter inside the hemisphere of the cerebrum are known as the cerebral cortex?

The few islands of gray matter within the interior of the cerebrum are made up of neuron cell bodies and unmyelinated axons. These areas of gray matter act as the central processing unit of the brain. Many things can affect this gray matter, such as, smoking, child abuse, alcoholism, and drugs.

The portion of the spinal cord made up of myelinated axons?

White Matter

Which part of the nervous system is a gray wrinkly organ made up of millions of neurons?

The brain. The nervous system has two main parts, the brain and the spinal cord. There are also a ton of sensory and motor neurons transmitting signals to and from the rest of the body, but brain and spinal cord make up the Central Nervous System, which is in charge of it all.

What part of the spinal cord contains neurons?

Motor neurons are located in the gray matter of the brain, and their axons stretch out to the spinal cord through the ventral root. they are located in the Ventral horn of the spinal cord,

Why is gray matter gray and white matter white?

All nerve tissue is grey by default due to a lack of any pigmented organelles as they would be almost usless. The white matter on the other hand is white because of an insulator wrapped around it called myelin which is made of fat. The grey matter is the cell bodies of the neurones ans so there is little need for insulation but the white matter is the axons and thus and insulator is present to speed up the action potential.
