It depends on the boat and what type of engine is already in the boat. If it already has a 305 Chevy, it's a direct bolt in. If you are replacing a Ford engine, more work is involved simply because the two engines are completely different from each other. Motor mounts, exhaust manifolds, and several other things would have to be changed. Most marine bellhousings (for inboard/outboard drive units) have bolt patterns for both, so that part would probably be fine as is. If the boat isn't set up for an inboard engine, the work is far more extensive than I can explain here. While you are at it, you better make sure the 350 won't be too heavy, which would depend on the size and type of the boat itself.
